Powdery white beaches and clear blue water - that's what makes the communities of Fair Harbor, Dunewood and Lonelyville special. Come see for yourself!
Fair HarborFair Harbor is located between the communities of Saltaire to the west and Dunewood to its east. Known as a safe, clean, family community, Fair Harbor is kid-friendly as well as barefoot-friendly. Fair Harbor has a wonderful lifeguard-protected bay beach where families bring the kids for safe swimming. In the evenings, families gather at the dock to watch the beautiful sunsets. Fair Harbor has a post office, gourmet market, restaurant, pizza shop, ice cream shop, variety store and well-stocked liquor store, and is served by the Fair Harbor Volunteer Fire Department. DunewoodA family-friendly "no shares allowed" community, Dunewood boasts tennis facilities for community member use; and sailing, power-boating and other water activities at the Dunewood Yacht Club. Surfers and fishing enthusiasts also love Dunewood. Located between Fair Harbor and Lonelyville, Dunewood residents can easily walk to Fair Harbor's market, post office and eating establishments.
LonelyvilleThe perfect place to relax and take it easy, Lonelyville is one of the oldest communities on Fire Island. You won't exactly feel "lonely" there, but you will have a sense of privacy and being "away from it all" in this small community. Most people who visit Lonelyville use the Dunewood or Fair Harbor ferry. Though Lonelyville doesn't have its own stores, it's an easy walk to Fair Harbor, and is accessible by bike to all communities to the west.
